Truck drivers return to work, start moving inbound containers
Container truck drivers at India’s Port of Chennai ended a three-day strike Wednesday morning, allowing the movement of ocean freight traffic to and from the country’s second-largest container gateway.
The local Trailer Owners’ Association struck work Sunday night without any prior notice, protesting poor approach road conditions and calling for speedy implementation of the Ennore-Manali highway project.
The settlement came after the port chairman intervened and held talks with representatives of the truck operator-owner group.
