Clearly, relying on scientific and technological progress is the important guarantee of the port to achieve safety, reliability and economic reasonability. Future port's construction and development will pay more attention to the harmony between ports and natural and economic and social development while relying on scientific and technological progress and giving full play to science and technology for the support and guidance role and further strengthen the popularization and application of scientific and technological achievements to promote scientific and technological innovation system construction; comprehensive enhancement of ports' overall quality to promote the sustainable development; paying attention to development and applications of port security technology and enhance port security capacity; speed up technological research of environmental protection and resource conservation to improve the sustainable development of port capacity.
"Technology without borders", as port people, we advocate that the advanced science and technology within port industry to be promoted and applied in a broader field. Chinese ports have been and will be continuing to learn advanced technology and expertise from other countries and regions and hope to work with other countries and regions to share the results brought by technological progress. We are here today to convene the "PorTech Asia 2007" with the purpose of establishing a good communication and exchange platform for the international port sector. With the authoritative experts and industry elite gathered here, I believe, through the mutual exchange and exploration, it will be of benefit to the widely promotion of advanced technology and concepts of port and have a far-reaching impact on the future port development of all countries.
As an associate member of International Association of Ports and Harbors , China Ports Association is responsible for organizing and coordinating non-governmental exchanges between Chinese port enterprises and international ports.
