Container Throughput Growth

With the rapid development of its economy, China has kept an annual increase of about 25.9% in container handling volume since 2001. In 2006, the container throughput amounted to 93.61 million TEU, an increase of 23.8% over 2005 and ranking first in the world. Of the total, 85.79 million TEU were handled in coastal ports, 7.82million TEU in inland river ports. The annual increase is 22.5% for the former and 39.1% for the latter.
